I started working while still in High School at a local restaurant (Hobee's) as a busser and barista for about 18 months. In the summers I worked at YMCA Sunshine Daycare, doing childcare for elementary aged kids. After High School I got a job as a Computer Sales Associate at Fry's Electronics and did in-store and b2b tele-sales for a year. Then I worked as a waiter at Pizzeria Uno, a gourmet pizza franchise, for a year while attending community college until they shut down. I worked as a swim instructor at De Anza Cupertino Aquatics for about 9 months until I had a very bad reaction to the constant chlorine exposure and had to stop.
In 2005, while attending SFSU, I worked 6 months in a temporary position at UCSF Medical Center, as administrative support staff for a clinical research study. Then I worked for 16 months at Whole Foods Market in the prepared foods department. At that point I was essentially finished with school but could not graduate due to class availability issues. I started working for a very small real estate investment firm, Beyond Serenity Inc, as a freelance consultant providing market analysis, administrative support and executive assistance. I continue to consult for them presently. I also started doing temp work through staffing agencies. I did a number of short assignments through Nelson Staffing, mostly administrative support. Then I got a long term assignment through Kelly Services at West Coast Life Insurance as an Application Manager. I got laid off after 13 months as there was a gradual progression of scaling down due to acquisition by Protective Life. From there I got a couple short term assignments through various employment agencies. I graduated SFSU and started my own consulting firm, PRFX. I do some freelance and temp work but am underemployed and on the look out for more work.
My career path has brought me a diversity of experience that has turned me into a versatile and dynamic worker that is able to perform in many roles. I was also able to graduate college without any student loans hanging over me which is quite a notable achievement. Experience in such a variety of different sectors is something I am grateful for and grants me a wide range of awareness in business and service.
